The season is catching up with me. There are less than two weeks left until I don't have to hear Christmas music at all anymore, and I'm getting it stuck in my head.
Today's earworm is "Carol of the Bells" by Mykola Leontovych. It is one of my favorite Christmas songs in the history of the medium. There is a quiet desperation in the song that speaks volumes to my holiday sensibilities. I will forever associate it with being cold and alone, walking around uptown Minneapolis in the middle of the night with my headphones on and watching the snow fall through the light of the streetlamps.
I forgot that the song has lyrics. I much prefer the instrumental version.
